We're planning a trip and when I travel - sightseeing is simply what happens in between meals.😅 Like any good foodie, when planning my travel itinerary I start by researching where to get the best local fare. Doesn't everyone??😂 Next month we're going to Amsterdam and I've already started a very extensive research project involving Dutch treats. My current list includes Dutch apple pie, stroopwafels, poffertjes, bitterballen and whatever other delicious surprises the Netherlands has been hiding from me all these years.😋 Now I want to expand my search with what I'd like to refer to as crowd sourced vacation planning. If you've visited Amsterdam and discovered a bakery, café, market stall, hidden gem or life-changing dessert that should absolutely not be missed - I'd love to hear about it. Send me an email with your favorite food spots, must-try treats, and local recommendations. Whether it's the best Dutch apple pie in the city, the freshest stroopwafels, a cozy canal-side café or a restaurant that's still haunting your dreams years later, I'm all ears. Your recommendation for an unforgettable Dutch apple pie may directly influence how many extra miles we walk each day to justify a second slice.🥧😅 Can you tell how excited I am about this pie - oops - I mean trip? 😂 In the meantime, I'll be over here enjoying another slice of this amazing apple cake and dreaming about sitting at a canal side table, eating Dutch Apple Pie in the near future.🚤 Apple Cake 2.0 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon baking powder ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup butter, room temperature ⅔ cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 Tablespoons rum 2 Granny Smith apples
Bake 40 minutes at 350. Once cool, remove cake from pan and serve with whipped cream. Ciao!
